[0:00] [Music] [0:09] It's just this welcoming place. It just [0:12] makes you feel good walking through the [0:13] door. [0:23] [Music] [0:31] [Music] [0:33] Since this first opened about 20 years [0:35] ago, our population has doubled in size. [0:37] And so we wanted to create a space to [0:39] invite all those new people that have [0:41] moved to our community over the last 20 [0:43] years. [0:44] Like most facilities, renovation is [0:46] necessary. And after 23 years, we [0:48] certainly needed it. We do want people [0:50] to feel like this is their space. So [0:53] there was a great amount of public [0:55] engagement. We started by asking people [0:57] early on to really seek the input of not [1:00] only the users but folks that might not [1:03] have traditionally come to Central Park [1:04] and what might get them to come to [1:06] Central Park in the future. We worked [1:09] with our community partners and our [1:10] facility connections that have been in [1:12] this space since the inception. Stone [1:15] Crest Senior Living, the Washington [1:17] County Library and Washington County [1:18] offices, South Washington County School [1:21] District, and the Woodbury YMCA. And [1:24] then an added partner in the space is [1:26] True Lens Community Media. We worked [1:28] with them to increase and enhance the [1:30] opportunities that they offer to the [1:32] community. And I think the end result is [1:34] we continued a great partnership. [1:38] Out of all the projects I've delivered [1:40] to the city to date, it has probably [1:42] been the most exciting. We've had really [1:45] great on-site project superintendent. We [1:48] had a really good design and [1:50] construction team. I have a whole great [1:53] team of co-workers that help deliver [1:55] these projects. There was nothing that [1:57] was out of the ordinary and I'm very [2:00] thankful for that. [2:07] There are a few really neat new features [2:09] here at Central Park. So, there is solar [2:12] on top of the large portion of Central [2:16] Park and the library roof. We also [2:19] installed a geothermal system here. And [2:22] then the windows are all glazed that [2:24] helps reflect the sun, helps during the [2:27] the winter and summer months. And then [2:30] LED lighting. Those are the top [2:33] components of this project that are [2:35] energy saving. [2:37] The new enclosed amphitheater will [2:39] provide a great space for new events [2:42] such as the teen movie nights, [2:44] performances in the park, and variety of [2:46] different activities as well. With it [2:48] now being enclosed, it really opens up [2:50] the opportunities for new programs that [2:52] we haven't been able to do in the past. [2:54] Lookout Ridge has been completely [2:56] renovated. 75 features for the kids, [2:58] improved sight lines for parents, two [3:00] adjoining party rooms for bringing [3:02] together your celebration, and wonderful [3:04] natural light to really make the entire [3:05] space welcoming for all. [3:08] I love the brand new indoor playground, [3:10] Lookout Ridge. It's expanded and [3:12] beautiful and new and super fun. [3:14] What I'm most excited about is the [3:16] senior focus space. Our seniors and [3:18] older adults uh really haven't had a [3:20] space that's been intended for their [3:22] programming. We do plan to program it [3:24] during the day and open that space up in [3:26] the evenings for rentals. The [3:28] programming will serve as a hub for our [3:29] seniors and older adults in the [3:31] community. [3:32] The garden space was particularly [3:34] important to our residents and community [3:36] members. It's a good mix of what has [3:38] traditionally been here and what's new. [3:41] The multi-purpose room can be divided [3:43] into three different spaces and it [3:45] really will provide a great space for a [3:48] variety of different programs. That [3:50] space will really allow us to meet the [3:52] needs of the community with programs in [3:54] a way that we haven't been able to in [3:55] the past. [3:58] [Music] [4:03] A huge thank you to all of the city [4:05] staff, county partners, Stone Crest [4:09] partners, the YMCA, the school district, [4:12] and the many, many residents and [4:14] community members that helped give input [4:16] and have been patient during this [4:18] transition. and construction. [4:21] We're looking forward to people having [4:23] the opportunity to come here and be [4:25] surprised at what's new and take a look [4:27] at all the fun things we've added to [4:29] this building. So, can't wait to hear [4:31] the feedback from all of you of what you [4:32] think about this new updated building [4:34] that we have in our community. So, when [4:37] people come in, they'll see some of the [4:39] traditional spaces, but they'll see a [4:41] lot of different opportunities in [4:43] different parts of the park that they [4:44] can gather. We're so excited to reopen [4:47] and invite everyone back into this [4:49] wonderful space. [4:52] [Music]
