I'm excited to share some exciting news. After months of remodeling, Central Park is ready to welcome the community back with a grand reopening celebration. Join us on Sunday, November 2nd from noon to 4 p.m. for a fun-filled day at our indoor community gathering place. The celebration will feature self-guided tours, performances in the amphitheater by Open Door Community Theater and folk singer Matt Hannah. The new Lookout Ridge indoor playground will be open for kids to give the area a free test drive. A full schedule of events will be posted online and shared via the city's InTouch email notification service and Facebook account before the event. Prior to the big grand opening on November 2nd, Central Park will softly open. During October, Central Park will be opening a few phases while construction continues, beginning with the Lookout Ridge indoor playground, the east and west entrances, and the main level restrooms. Seating and gathering areas throughout the indoor park will not open until later in the month. Also coming in early October, repaving work on Prominade Lane and Central Park Place, the two main roads leading into Central Park. Improvements at Central Park include increasing public gathering spaces in the park area and closing the amphitheater, improving parking and pedestrian access to the facility, creating more spaces for art and rotating public art displays, adding a multi-purpose space that can accommodate large gatherings and events with the flexibility to divide it into smaller programming spaces. Expanding program space with a senior focus. addressing maintenance issues and improving accessibility and energy efficiency, maintaining greenery, a re-imagined water feature in the indoor park and improved lighting. Adding a dedicated lectation room and singleuse restrooms. As part of the renovation, the Lookout Ridge indoor playground on Central Park's lower level received a makeover featuring new playground equipment and added party rooms. Designed for children ages 12 and under, the updated indoor playground features exciting play elements, including a tall enclosed slide from the top of the structure, a multi-lane slide, moonwalker, tunnels, and a dedicated toddler area. Selter Park's meeting, event, and program spaces, as well as lookout ridge party rooms are now available for rental. Our parks, facilities, and amenities are at the heart of our community, and I can't wait to celebrate this milestone with you. Whether you've been coming to Central Park for years or it's your first visit, this is the perfect time to see what's new and enjoy the space with friends, family, and neighbors.
