[0:00] This fall, ISD 62 has two questions on [0:03] the ballot. Question one is an increase [0:06] in our operating levy to maintain class [0:08] sizes, protect essential student [0:09] programs, retain highquality staff, and [0:11] an opportunity to strengthen elementary [0:13] arts experiences. If question one were [0:16] to pass, the average tax increase to a [0:18] homeowner of a $300,000 home would be [0:20] $22 per month, or just around 75 cents [0:23] per day. Question two is a capital [0:25] projects levy to maintain critical [0:26] security systems, reliable networks, [0:28] classware hardware and software and [0:30] technology staff. [0:32] If question two were to pass, the [0:34] average tax increase to a homeowner of a [0:36] $300,000 home would be $4 per month or [0:39] just around 15 cents per day. State and [0:41] local funding have not kept up with [0:43] inflation, resulting in over 11 million [0:45] in cuts over the past two years. Meaning [0:48] that if question one does not pass [0:49] without the additional revenue, the [0:51] district will need to make further [0:52] reductions to staff and essential [0:53] student programs. If question two does [0:56] not pass, we will continue to invest in [0:58] essential technology for safety and [0:59] learning. However, without a dedicated [1:01] capital projects levy, these costs will [1:04] come from the general fund, resulting in [1:05] further staff and programming cuts. [1:08] Early voting begins on September 19th, [1:11] and polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to [1:12] 8:00 p.m. on November 4th.
