Woodbury launches ash tree removal financing program for residents
The Woodbury City Council announced a new financing program to help residents afford the costs of removing ash trees from their properties. The program allows homeowners to spread payments through a special assessment added to their property tax bills.
The city introduced an alternative financing option designed to ease the financial burden on residents dealing with ash tree removal. Rather than requiring upfront payment, the program lets homeowners pay through their property tax bills via a special assessment lien. The city clarified this is not a rebate or discount program, but rather a way to make removal costs more manageable.
Beyond the ash tree initiative, the council highlighted several community programs and resources. A new Juneteenth trail walk runs through June 22nd, featuring educational signs at City Hall, Colby Lake Park, and Ojiway Park. The city also released an updated park and trails map available in both physical and digital formats. Free copies can be picked up at City Hall, M Health Fair Sports Center, and Eagle Valley Golf Course, while an interactive online version is regularly updated.
The council also announced the 2024 Water Quality Report is now available on the city website. Residents without internet access can request paper copies from the Public Works Department.
Looking ahead, the city is preparing for the 4th of July Hometown Celebration, which will feature live music, bounce houses, and food trucks. Council members will be available to meet residents. Due to ongoing construction, traffic patterns will change during the event. The city plans to publish a detailed traffic plan on its website to help residents navigate the area.
