The City of Woodbury is inviting residents to get more involved in local government. Starting August 30th, community members can apply to serve on a city advisory commission, with applications accepted through October 16th. This is an opportunity for residents who want a direct say in how the city operates.

In other news, Woodbury received recognition from the Minnesota Green Step program, which includes 148 participating cities and tribal nations across the state. The city earned recognition at steps four and five of the program, which acknowledges efforts in reducing energy use, conserving resources, cutting costs, and addressing climate change.

The city also highlighted its Safe Community Camera Program, a voluntary initiative that allows residents and businesses to register their external surveillance cameras with the city. When a crime or incident occurs, public safety personnel can request footage from registered cameras to help with investigations. Participation is entirely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time.

Looking ahead, the City Council will hold a public workshop on September 11th at 4 p.m. at the Public Safety Building to review the proposed 2025 city budget. The meeting is open to the public, and residents can participate virtually through the city's website at WoodburyMn.gov/VirtualMeetings. Budget information will be available beforehand through the administration and finance department at City Hall, giving residents time to review the numbers before the workshop.
