The Woodbury Community Emergency Response Team is a training program designed to prepare residents for emergencies by teaching them practical skills they can use to help their neighbors and support public safety officials during crises. The program covers basic disaster preparedness, emergency first aid, and resilience training, with the goal of empowering residents to respond quickly and effectively when emergencies occur.

Since launching, the CERT program has successfully recruited and trained more than 60 residents from Woodbury and surrounding communities. The Woodbury Fire Department plays a key role in the program, providing basic first aid courses that teach members critical skills like tourniquet application and pressure dressing techniques.

Beyond classroom training, the CERT team has been active in the community. Members recently assisted at the public safety tent during Woodbury Days, a local community event, where they engaged with residents and raised awareness about the program's mission.

The program represents a community-focused approach to emergency preparedness, recognizing that trained residents can make a meaningful difference during disasters by providing immediate assistance before professional emergency responders arrive. The strong initial participation suggests growing interest among Woodbury residents in becoming better prepared to help during emergencies.
