Woodbury has completed a major renovation of Central Park after 23 years of operation, updating the facility to serve a community that has doubled in population over the past two decades.

The renovation included energy-efficient upgrades such as solar panels, a geothermal system, glazed windows and LED lighting throughout the facility. The project also expanded programming spaces and enhanced amenities for all age groups.

Key improvements include a completely renovated Lookout Ridge indoor playground with 75 features for children, improved sight lines for parents and two adjoining party rooms. The facility now features a new enclosed amphitheater that will host teen movie nights, performances and various community activities. A dedicated senior focus space will provide programming during daytime hours and rental opportunities in the evenings.

The Parks and Recreation Department conducted extensive public engagement during the planning process, seeking input from both current users and residents who had not traditionally visited Central Park. The city worked with existing community partners including Stone Crest Senior Living, Washington County Library, Washington County offices, South Washington County School District and Woodbury YMCA. True Lens Community Media joined as an additional partner to enhance media opportunities.

The renovated facility includes a multi-purpose room that can be divided into three separate spaces and an updated garden area that combines traditional elements with new features. City officials expressed gratitude to staff, partners and community members for their input and patience during the construction process.
