The City of Woodbury has completed numerous park improvement projects over the past two years through its parks replacement funding program, according to a recent presentation.

The program, which began in January 2022, uses franchise fees collected from gas and electric bills to fund parks and trails replacement projects throughout the city's extensive park system. The initiative was designed to provide sustainable funding for maintaining the community's recreational spaces.

Since the program's launch, the city has replaced play structures at five parks: Menomini, Brookview, Marsh Creek, Tamarack and Ridge parks. The funding also supported the replacement of 5.6 miles of trails throughout the system.

Additional completed projects include parking lot improvements at Shawnee, Pioneer, Evergreen West and Ojibway parks, along with a new ice rink at Colby Park and a boardwalk behind City Hall. The program also funded tennis court replacements at Cobblestone and Wedgewood parks, as well as basketball and tennis court improvements at Odawa, Lakeview Knolls and Pioneer parks.
