School Board Honors Retirees, Introduces Homeschooling Policy
The Woodbury School Board recognized multiple retiring employees and conducted the first reading of a new homeschooling policy during its June 24 meeting.
District 62 honored retirees from various positions including teachers, support staff, and specialists. Among those recognized were Bob Vidic, music teacher Beth Jula from Richardson Elementary, and Miss Savage. Board members shared personal appreciation for several retiring staff members during the recognition ceremony.
Board member Michelle noted her connection to Vidic, who worked closely with the board when she first joined, and praised Jula for teaching her three children to play recorder at Richardson Elementary. Another board member recalled how his son Graham still speaks regularly about Miss Savage, despite not having interacted with her for five years.
The board also conducted the first formal reading of Policy 611 on homeschooling, a new policy that does not currently exist in the district. The policy is being developed using a Minnesota School Boards Association model policy template.
The homeschooling policy will be brought forward for adoption at an August business meeting. No questions were raised about the policy during the initial reading.

Beth Jula was one of their favorites. She was the music teacher at Richardson and taught them all to play the recorder. So, thank you to Beth and to all of the staff. I'll echo what Michelle said about Vidic. Um I just wish him the best with his retirement. And then um also my my son Graham. He's um he he wasn't he hasn't had uh an interaction with Miss Savage in probably like five years, but he still talks about her u pretty regularly. So, I I want to wish her, Bobic, and um all the other um outstanding employees just the best on their next chapter. All right. Thank you.
