Woodbury Completes Heritage Walk Trail System at Valley Creek Park
The city of Woodbury has established a Heritage Walk trail system at Valley Creek Park, featuring interpretive signs that showcase the city's history across 70 acres of parkland.
The Heritage Walk includes two trails winding through the park. A loop trail passes through a hand-planted pine forest and oak savanna, where five interpretive signs are located. The second trail features three signs focusing on the trout stream that begins at Valley Creek Park and flows underground to Afton, the historic Miller Barn and its historical functions, and local wildlife.
Seven interpretive signs are currently installed along the trails, with an eighth sign planned for completion according to the Parks Department. The signs include QR codes that link visitors to a website containing additional content, pictures and videos about Woodbury's history.
The paved trails include benches and are designed to be accessible for visitors seeking to learn about the area's history before Woodbury's current population of 80,000 residents. The trail system allows residents to experience local history without leaving the city.
