The Wright County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday scheduled a public hearing for April 1 regarding the implementation of body cameras for law enforcement officers, as required by state statute.

The hearing will take place at 9:30 a.m. during the regular board meeting, providing at least 30 days' notice for public comment and input on the body camera program. Chief of Police indicated the department continues making progress toward implementation in partnership with Oracle.

Commissioners also set March 6 for a 911 committee meeting to update members on communication center upgrades. The committee last met in 2022 and has experienced turnover of at least four committee chairs since then. Captain Ferguson said the meeting would catch new members up on phases for upgrades at the main communication center and backup center at the training facility.

The board approved resolutions supporting the Mississippi River St. Cloud Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan and authorized signatures on related joint powers agreements. They also passed a resolution supporting the Wright Technical Center's bonding request as it moves through the legislature.

Commissioners engaged in extended discussion about expense policies and carry-forward funds, ultimately approving most carry-forward requests while agreeing to workshop further policy parameters on March 11. The debate centered on consistency with existing financial policies and appropriate oversight of commissioner expenses.
