Nowthen Council Meeting Addresses Infrastructure, Schools; No Animal Ordinance Forum Details Emerge
While city officials discussed vital projects including road improvements, school district referendums, and public safety initiatives, specific information regarding a public forum on animal ordinances and property use was not found in the meeting's analysis.
The latest Nowthen City Council meeting covered a wide array of significant community issues, ranging from critical infrastructure upgrades and public safety measures to future educational funding. However, a detailed review of the meeting's agenda and discussions did not reveal any specific information or direct mentions pertaining to a public forum focused on animal ordinances and property use, a topic often of keen interest to residents concerning local regulations and land stewardship.
Despite the absence of this specific topic, the council session was robust, featuring presentations and debates on several key municipal projects. Among these were feasibility reports for upcoming road work, including the 2027 Overlay Project, which highlighted assessment costs for new developments like Bailey Estates, Hunter Hills, and Milestone Ponds.
So we have good news to share tonight. The original assessment amount was $3,660.80, and based on the actual construction cost, it's our recommendation that those assessment amounts can be reduced to $2,900 per property.
This reduction, related to the 2026 Overlay Project, was presented as a positive development for property owners. Discussions also delved into the more contentious Assault Street Improvement Project, which proposes converting a gravel road to asphalt. The estimated cost for this project, at $448,000, was noted as significantly higher than initial resident estimates.
I would have concerns with an amount assessment of $28,000 that we would not be able possibly not be able to be that again we're not sure what the I don't know all the different values of homes out there whether something commercial or all residential all of that plays a factor but it being residential I would have concerns about meeting that benefit test.
