StoryCity Hall Construction Progress Tour

Chanhassen's new city hall nears completion with fall opening planned

The Chanhassen City Council toured the under-construction civic campus on May 16, learning that the new city hall is roughly 90% complete and on track to open this fall. Construction manager Jack Bronzik led council members through the building to showcase progress on the structure that will house city offices and services.

The new city hall is nearly finished, with most of the roof now complete except for the clock tower section. Workers have completed about 90% of the brickwork on the exterior and are preparing to install the air barrier—a critical component that helps regulate temperature and moisture inside the building. The clock tower, the only remaining roofing project, is expected to receive its clock installation in June.

During the tour, council members visited several key areas of the building, including the senior center, council chambers where future city meetings will be held, and the main entrance area where residents will check in. The main hallway will serve as the primary thoroughfare, and the building will include a dedicated service window for zoning, planning, and inspections—departments that currently operate from other locations.

The civic campus project represents a significant investment in Chanhassen's municipal infrastructure, consolidating city services into one modern facility. The fall opening timeline means residents should expect the transition to the new building within the next several months. No votes were taken during this update meeting, which focused on informing council members and the public about construction progress.
