Chanhassen Council updates residents on summer events, construction
The Chanhassen City Council held a brief check-in meeting Thursday to recap recent community activities and alert residents to upcoming events and road work. The council highlighted a successful Memorial Day ceremony, promoted local attractions, and warned of construction delays on a major bridge.
Nearly 500 residents gathered at Lake Anne Park on Monday for Chanhassen's Memorial Day ceremony, which honored those who served and died in military service. The strong turnout underscored community engagement in civic remembrance.
Looking ahead, the city is promoting its top 10 Instagram-worthy locations through the Chanhassen Connection magazine. Residents are encouraged to photograph these spots, tag the city on social media, and enter a raffle for prizes. The Chanhassen Library and Lake Anne are among the featured destinations.
The council announced two upcoming community events. On June 12, children can participate in "Fishing with First Responders" at Lake Anne, where local police, fire, and other first responders will teach kids how to fish. Sign-up details are available through the city. Additionally, the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on June 3 at City Hall to review preliminary plans and site design for the Avianda Apartments development.
Residents should prepare for traffic disruptions on Highway 101, which connects Chanhassen to Shakopee over the Minnesota River. Carver County is conducting bridge construction that will reduce lanes and cause delays through early July. Commuters should plan for extended travel times during this period.
