[0:05] All right, I'm going to give you a
[0:07] warning, okay? Because it would be more
[0:10] fair if I could get the other person and
[0:12] give them a ticket as well, but you
[0:14] can't let people get to you. I I get it.
[0:16] Yeah, he he kind of cut me off and I
[0:18] just I know I shouldn't.
[0:19] Sure. It's frustrating. Been a long day.
[0:21] I get it. But I want you and everyone
[0:23] else to be safe and
[0:25] uh Officer Peterson with Lakeville
[0:26] Police. Uh I've been with Lakeville for
[0:28] just about a year now. I have 10 years
[0:31] experience at a local county agency
[0:33] prior to coming here. Right now we're
[0:36] out kind of patrolling uh the city of
[0:38] Lakeville. Um just taking our calls as
[0:41] we need it. Uh in between we're looking
[0:43] at doing some traffic enforcement. Hi,
[0:45] how we doing?
[0:46] Good.
[0:46] Driver's license insurance. So reason
[0:48] I'm stopping to talk to you. Uh in
[0:50] Minnesota we have what's called the FOS
[0:51] law or move over law. So when there's
[0:53] two or more lanes and we're on the side
[0:55] of the veh on the side of the road cars
[0:57] I couldn't
[0:58] you had probably a good two car lengths
[1:00] to be able to move over that red SUV was
[1:02] quite a ways behind you.
[1:03] Yeah. For me a lot of it's education. I
[1:06] don't write a lot of tickets. Um if you
[1:07] get a ticket for me it's it's either you
[1:10] haven't learned from past contacts or
[1:12] experience uh or you have a disregard
[1:14] for law and public safety. Um, but I
[1:17] think a lot of what we do is, you know,
[1:19] we kind of try to focus on a lot of
[1:20] education, a lot of enforcement in that
[1:22] route to kind of um, get a better
[1:26] picture across to everyone. And
[1:27] sometimes it's uh, works, sometimes it
[1:30] doesn't. Sometimes we come across the
[1:31] same people later on and they haven't
[1:33] learned and then sometimes a citation is
[1:35] needed.
[1:36] All right, hop out. We're just going to
[1:38] go to the front of my squad here. Okay.
[1:40] What's the reason? Because I can smell
[1:42] alcohol and based upon some of the
[1:44] driving conduct and stuff like that, I
[1:46] can investigate you for impaired
[1:47] driving. Harder. Blow through it. Blow
[1:49] through it like you're blowing a
[1:50] balloon.
[1:52] Okay.
[1:54] So, based on that and where you're at
[1:56] for timing and what you're telling me, I
[1:57] believe you. Okay. Understand? When I'm
[2:00] looking for alcohol and stuff like that
[2:02] and I have the smell, I'm just going to
[2:04] check it out to make sure everything's
[2:05] okay.
[2:05] I get this.
[2:07] Uh, you know, it's an exciting job. I
[2:09] mean there's a whole part of you know
[2:11] helping people and stuff like that but I
[2:12] feel uh it's you know interesting to be
[2:14] able to make an impact on people's lives
[2:17] where you can um you know there's a few
[2:20] percentage of people that ar…
