District 204 Tackles Facility Upgrades, Eyes Future Improvements
Independent School District 204 is actively addressing current maintenance needs and planning for future upgrades across its various campuses and athletic fields.
Independent School District 204 is making significant strides in facility maintenance and planning for future improvements across its various campuses, including major renovations to athletic fields and crucial repairs to school buildings. Recent discussions highlight ongoing efforts to ensure safe and functional environments for students and staff within the district.
Athletic Field and Building Upgrades
A notable project includes the complete renovation of the Crozet football field, made possible through substantial donations of materials and labor by Hip. This significant upgrade enhances the district's athletic infrastructure. Additionally, maintenance efforts are underway at the softball facilities, with fence post and backstop repairs recently completed at the North field. The South field also faces fence post issues, with future plans for new netting systems to improve player safety and field usability.
Inside school buildings, the Performing Arts Center (PAC) is slated for future floor sanding and staining, alongside necessary repairs for roof leaks, addressing critical structural and aesthetic needs. The elementary school playground, a key area for younger students, is experiencing deteriorating equipment and is pending inspection to determine the scope of needed repairs, ensuring a safe play environment.
Beyond structural maintenance, the district also meticulously manages the use of its grounds and properties. A recent request from the Big Iron Classic for camping on an open lot, described as a 'hayfield,' was considered, but ultimately not approved to allow alcohol consumption.
Um yeah, we you know, we appreciate everything the Big Iron does, a lot of donations to the school. Um we're trying to make sure that everything is done correctly.
