[0:20] bring you the Buzz for the week of
[0:21] August 21st through the 27th Bloomington
[0:24] voters will decide if the city continues
[0:27] to use rank Choice voting in November
[0:29] 2020 Bloomington voters approved use of
[0:31] rank Choice voting for future city
[0:33] council and mayoral elections it changed
[0:36] how residents vote for mayor and City
[0:38] Council Members it did not change how
[0:40] residents vote in federal state county
[0:43] or Schoolboard elections it was used for
[0:45] the first time in the November 2021
[0:48] election in 2024 a committee of five
[0:51] registered Bloomington voters collected
[0:53] signatures on a petition and then
[0:55] presented that petition to the city's
[0:57] Charter commission requesting that the
[0:59] city Charter be amended to repeal rank
[1:01] Choice voting in Bloomington the city
[1:03] clerk found the petition sufficient and
[1:05] the city council approved the ballot
[1:06] language consistent for the charter
[1:08] Amendment a yes vote on your ballot
[1:10] means you want to stop using rank Choice
[1:13] voting to elect mayor and city council a
[1:15] no vote means you want to continue using
[1:17] rank Choice voting to select the mayor
[1:19] and city council to read the ballot

[1:26] RCV the second year of Bloom in
[1:28] Bloomington is in the book there were 15
[1:31] youth who were part of the second cohort
[1:33] of interns ages 16 to 24 who worked with
[1:36] the City Mall of America and Laren
[1:38] Hoffman this summer the program aims to
[1:40] provide young people with opportunities
[1:42] to explore career paths from a wide
[1:44] variety of employers build valuable work
[1:47] experiences and develop leadership
[1:49] skills the bloom and Bloomington
[1:51] internship is a great program I mean
[1:54] it's incredible what they're doing
[1:56] allowing students that are interested in
[1:58] the field that mean not be the easiest
[2:01] field to get into especially if there's
[2:03] not many internships available it's
[2:05] great for students who are looking for
[2:07] more opportunities within that field
[2:09] this summer has been life-changing for
[2:11] me um I graduate high school no plans no
[2:15] goals and I didn't know what I was doing
[2:18] I took a year off reflecting on my life
[2:20] see what I want to do and started school
[2:22] at Normandale and this intership came
[2:24] around and this summer has just taught
[2:25] me so much to what's out there what's
[2:28] available just the relationships built
[2:30] have will carry with me throughout my
[2:32] future career congratulations to all the
[2:34] bloom interns on another successful year
[2:37] for future internship opportunities
[2:39] visit
[2:40] blmm bloom more than 200 people attended
[2:44] the older adult job fair in Bloomington
[2:46] it was held on Tuesday August 13th at
[2:49] Creekside Community Center the job fair
[2:51] aims to connect local businesses with
[2:53] older adults and retirees looking for
[2:55] paid part-time and seasonal
[2:57] opportunities the job fair is a
[2:58] partnership between the city of
[3:00] Bloomington and Martin Luther Senior
[3:01] Living in care and Ebenezer Senior
[3:03] Living that is the buzz on Bloomington
[3:05] today for the week of August 21st
