The Planning Commission voted unanimously to allow MVP Cricket to establish a 9,238-square-foot sports training facility within an existing warehouse in Bloomington's industrial park. The facility will feature three cricket pitches and office space. Planner Carl Crowe confirmed that the proposed use meets the city's definition of a Sports Training Facility, and staff verified that parking provisions comply with city code, with only a minor condition requiring parking lot striping.

Commissioners expressed strong enthusiasm for the project. Chair Ulbrich called it "a great use for our industrial area" that fits well with other uses in the building and meets all compliance requirements. Commissioner McGovern welcomed the opportunity, noting that cricket is "a new and upcoming sport" for Bloomington residents.

The approval came with one condition: the applicant must stripe the parking lot according to city standards. No commissioners dissented from the decision.

Looking ahead, the Planning Commission has several items on its agenda. The commission will hold public hearings on the South Town redevelopment project and cannabis business standards. Additionally, commissioners plan study sessions on zoning code reorganization, short-term rental standards, and an annual review of commission rules. A future public hearing is also scheduled to discuss an ordinance aimed at streamlining development standards.
