The Angelica Cantanti Choirs have been selected to perform at the national American Choral Directors Association conference in Dallas, marking the second time the organization has received the prestigious invitation.

The high school Cantanti Singers group, consisting of 70 students performing soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts, will travel to Dallas in March to perform seven songs at what organizers call "the Super Bowl of choir events." The group is the only choir from Minnesota selected for the national conference.

The performance will feature pieces by local composers, including Kyle Pederson of Eagan, who will attend the conference to hear their work performed. According to the presentation, the opportunity allows students to work directly with composers and gain deeper understanding of the music than typical performances provide.

This marks the second national ACDA selection for Angelica Cantanti, which previously performed at the Kansas City conference in 2019 with their high school treble singers group. The organization had to submit auditions for three years before receiving the current invitation.

The nonprofit organization is fundraising for the trip, which falls outside their normal programming budget. Director Mr. Brown described the opportunity as "once-in-a-lifetime" for the student singers, noting it provides significant credentials for those pursuing collegiate and future musical careers.
