Bloomington schedules May 10 compost giveaway
The City of Bloomington will host its compost giveaway Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Western Maintenance Facility.
Residents must register by May 7 at blm.mn/compost to participate in the event. Registration includes assignment of a one-hour pickup time slot during the four-hour window.
Participants will receive three 40-pound bags of compost at no cost. The city requires advance registration to manage distribution logistics.
Only residents enrolled in the city's curbside or drop-off organics recycling programs are eligible for the free compost. Those not currently participating in organics recycling can sign up through the city's website.
The compost giveaway represents the city's effort to complete the recycling loop by returning processed organic waste to residents for gardening and landscaping use.
