Meeting date: Jul 16, 2025
Published Aug 23, 2025

Ten entrepreneurs will compete for $100,000 in funding through the second annual Hatch Bloomington Business Pitch Competition, with community voting scheduled for Aug. 6 at Bloomington Civic Plaza.

The finalists include Bastu Bloomington, Bloomington Farm and Feed, Bookmother, Hearts and Spades, Hotbox Pies, Nuna, The Chocolate Bar, Twin Cities Streetcar, The Plug Mobile and Veterans Post Provisions. A panel of judges selected the top 10 from 25 semi-finalists who pitched their ideas in June.

The competition offers entrepreneurs financial assistance to establish brick-and-mortar businesses in Bloomington. Elevator pitches from all finalists are available on the city's YouTube channel under the Hatch 2025 playlist. Community members will vote for their preferred business during the Aug. 6 event.

Separately, Bloomington received recognition as a steps four and five city in the Minnesota GreenStep Program for its sustainability efforts. The award acknowledges the city's progress in energy and resource conservation, cost savings, climate change initiatives and civic innovation.

The city also is promoting traffic safety by offering free speed limit yard signs to residents. The signs highlight Bloomington's 25 mph speed limits on residential streets and are available at the Civic Plaza information desk and community events.
