CALL TO ORDER The Brooklyn Center City Council/Financial Commission Joint Work Session was called to order by Mayor April Graves at 5:35 p.m. ## 2. INTRODUCTIONS Mayor April Graves and Councilmembers Dan Jerzak, Teneshia Kragness, and Laurie-Ann Moore were present. Councilmember Kris Lawrence-Anderson was absent and excused. Chair Joylenna Garcia and Commissioners Gretchen Enger and Jeff Lewis were present. Commissioners Janice Brandt and Venus Coleman were absent. Also present were Interim City Manager Daren Nyquist, Director of Public Works and Interim Deputy City Manager Elizabeth Heyman, City Engineer Lydia Ener, Public Works Planner Korey Andersen Wagner, and City Clerk Shannon Pettit. Mayor Graves noted that City Clerk Shannon Pettit has made her aware that there will be additional applications to review for the Finance Commission by the end of the month, as there are two open positions on that Commission. ## 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND CONSENT AGENDA Councilmember Jerzak stated he had some corrections to the minutes, but had already sent them to the City Clerk. Mayor Graves stated he should read them into the record. Councilmember Jerzak stated on page seven of 124, in the July 21, 2025 minutes, in the second paragraph, the word "police" should be changed to "policy." The second correction is on page 13 of 124 in the July 21, 2025 minutes, and the word "exposed" was left out after a thousand. The next correction is on page 56 of 124; he believed he said, "the cost increases would be $2,400 for the average family," not the word "levy." Mayor Graves asked him to repeat the page number that the correction was on. Page 2 of 55 07/13/26 Page 2 Councilmember Jerzak stated it was on page 13 or 56 of 124, on the August 18 minutes. Councilmember Kragness asked him to repeat what he said, because she was not sure what he said. Councilmember Jerzak stated he believed he said, "the cost increases would be $2,400 for the average family," not the word "levy." He added that $2,400 in a levy is a lot, and what he was referring to was what he had heard that day in overall costs, with tariffs and inflation, and the projected cost was going to be $2,400 per family.
