Good evening. I would like to call this meeting of the Robbinsdale Area School Board to order. Today is Monday, May 19th, 2025. It is 7 o'clock in the evening. We are in the Education Service Center boardroom. Could the clerk please call the role? With pleasure. Director Bassid here. Director Bowman is here. Chair Evans Becker here. Director Hillbrand here. Director Holmes here. Director Long here. Director Wuto here. And Dr. Stallow here. All right, we're all here. Um, the first item on our agenda is approval of the agenda. This is a voice vote. Is there a motion to approve? Yes. I'd like to move to amend the agenda to add a vote on rescending the use of legal counsel at board meetings unless warranted by state statute. Add that to the agenda is my motion. Second. I if we're going to discuss it, we need a second. So, you will second it. Moved by Director Holmes, seconded by Director Long. Uh the motion is to amend the agenda to add a voice to add a vote on rescending the use of legal counsel at board meetings unless warranted by state statute. You want to talk? I did just to clarify um I know there's been requests about the costs that we've been incurring incurring as um a school board with legal fees and granted some of them are tied to state statute and closed sessions like I mentioned um others costs are adding up and I don't know I was looking at approaching $16,000 for May distributions for school board council alone um so this is what prompted me to motion for this um action Thank you. I don't see there any other hands. I would like to say I think uh we're not quite ready to not have council at our meetings. In more than one time, council has saved us from making an error that we would regret. Uh Director Bowman, I would also like to point out that it's standard and customary uh uh for legal council to be at any governance meeting. you go into any city any city council meeting, you have uh representation there and I do believe mo most of the school boards have them there. And I would also and it's a safeguard. I I would feel so censored and unsafe sitting at this table if we did not have general counsel to guide us. I agree with you uh chair Evans Becker that um uh they have uh kept us out of trouble uh on more than one occasion. Director Basset. Well, um, are we, this is just a vote to actually put it on the agenda. It's not a vote to discuss the issue at this moment. Is that am I understanding correctly? You are correct. Okay. Thank you. Thank you for that. All right. So, I see no more hands. This is a vote to add it to the agenda and this will be a voice vote. So, all in favor of adding this item to the agenda, please say I. I. Oppose say nay. Nay. Um, can we have a roll call vote on that? Sure can. Let me get ready here. All right. Uh, Director Basset, wait a minute. Hang on a second. Okay. Director Basset, I vote yes. Director Bowman votes no. Uh, Chair Evans Becker, no. Director Hillbrand, yes. Director Holmes, yes. Director Long, ye…
