Tonight, the Robbinsdale School Board members welcome members of the District Indian American Par American Indian Parent Advisory Council, their families, and the Robbinsdale community to witness the inaugural reading of the Robbinsdale Area Schools land acknowledgement. And to start us off, I would like to say bu Han Makuapi. And I would like to introduce Nation Wright. Nation Wright is a member of the Leech Lake Band of Ajiway. And he will honor he will sing an honor song with a hand drum for us before we do the reading and recognize our flags. Thank you. Welcome. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Stand up. Thank you. >> Big witch. Thank you. >> Wow. Way to kick off our inaugural land acknowledgement reading. Thank you. It's been a while in coming, but it's very important that we read this our land acknowledgement. After tonight, it will be read at the start of all of our schoolboard meetings and at different events across the district. It will be read. So, it's my honor to read the land acknowledgement now. We acknowledge Robinsdale Area Schools is located on the homelands of the Dakota and Ojiway people. We recognize the painful history of genocide and forced assimilation of the indigenous inhabitants of this land. We honor and respect the many indigenous peoples who live on and hold sacred these lands. And we stand with members of these nations to fight injustice in all of its forms. We uphold the preservation of Dakota and Ajiway languages, land-based education, and tribal sovereignty. But wait, there's more. You may have noticed something different in the boardroom. We are also displaying for the first time in the boardroom the the flags of the 11 tribal nations in Minnesota.
