Robbinsdale Area Schools served 2,837 students across multiple summer programming initiatives in 2025, according to a presentation delivered to the Brooklyn Park City Council.

The district's summer offerings included Extended School Year services for 175 special education students, targeted services and credit recovery programs serving nearly 1,200 students, community education programs reaching over 900 participants, and Freedom Schools serving 109 scholars. The programs operated from June through July at various district sites including Cooper High School, Robbinsdale Middle School, and other facilities.

The credit recovery program at Cooper High School awarded more than 500 credits to 669 participating students, with declining ninth-grade enrollment attributed to improved academic support systems. Elementary and middle school targeted services consolidated operations at Robbinsdale Middle School, serving nearly 400 elementary students and 130 middle school students with literacy, mathematics and science programming.

Freedom Schools, running from June 17 to July 25, featured daily programming including read-aloud sessions with guests such as Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan and district leadership. The program included weekly field trips, family empowerment nights, and concluded with a social action march to the state capitol focused on public education advocacy.

The district also launched a three-year elementary apprenticeship program in partnership with Bemidji State University, Black Men Teach, and Education Minnesota, designed to recruit and develop teachers of color. Six district staff members without bachelor's degrees participated in the inaugural program, which requires Freedom Schools participation and leads to elementary education licensure upon completion.
