Fifth-grade students from Lake View Elementary showcased their International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program exhibition projects, presenting research on topics including space pollution, ancient Greece, and automotive technology evolution. The students demonstrated the program's emphasis on student agency by developing their own central ideas, lines of inquiry, and research questions under teacher guidance.

The District 281 Youth Council presented findings from months of research on student engagement and staff-student relationships. The council, comprising high school students from Armstrong and Cooper, conducted observations at four schools and analyzed district survey data. Their recommendations included incorporating youth priorities into school improvement plans, ensuring full implementation of educational programs, and involving students in professional development planning.

Board members approved the intermediate school district's facilities maintenance plan through a unanimous roll call vote. The plan requires approval from all member districts before implementation.

Technology Director Joel Merling presented plans for server and storage infrastructure upgrades, requesting board approval at the next meeting. The refresh would address aging hardware installed in 2020 and reduce long-term maintenance costs while improving cybersecurity capabilities.

A staff investment team led by Executive Director Amy O'Harn shared recommendations for improving employee onboarding processes. The team analyzed exit survey data showing 79% of departing staff reported positive experiences, but identified needs for more consistent onboarding across all district sites and departments.

The board concluded with a work session focused on refining meeting procedures, including board packet timing, report formats, and meeting structures for the upcoming year.
