[0:00] Well, hello everybody and a great [0:01] greeting to you. This is Jim Hufflin, [0:03] your Adina mayor, and this is the [0:04] mayor's minute for Wednesday, July 16, [0:07] 2025. Have you ever wondered what it's [0:10] like to work in law enforcement? About [0:12] half the spots for the Adina Police [0:14] Department Citizens Academy are still [0:16] open for enrollment. The program starts [0:18] August 28th and runs for 13 weeks [0:21] through November 20th, 2025. People 21 [0:25] and older who work or live in Edina can [0:27] register for the weekly course to get a [0:30] firsthand look at how the Adina Police [0:32] Department operates. Classes are held [0:34] 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursdays at the Adina [0:37] Police Department or the South Metro [0:39] Public Training Facility. Participants [0:41] will be able to participate in mock [0:44] traffic stops, tour the Henipin County [0:46] Jail, meet one of the Adina police K-9 [0:49] teams, learn about the metro area drug [0:51] task force work, learn proactive defense [0:54] tactics, get a close look at Adino SWAT [0:57] team, and follow the course of a [0:58] criminal investigation along with [1:00] learning about other aspects of the [1:02] police department. The cost is only $25. [1:06] To register for the course, visit [1:08] edamamn.gov/scitizensacademy. [1:09] GV/citizensacademy. [1:11] Applicants must pass a background check [1:13] of course and applications are accepted [1:16] in the order in which they are received. [1:18] Though preferences given to those who [1:20] have not attended the program in the [1:21] past with the support from the Adina [1:23] Crime Prevention Fund, our police [1:25] department has a great citizens academy [1:28] planned for this fall.
