[0:00] uh welcome everybody for this work session this uh Thursday morning it is already March 13 [0:06] 2025 uh we recording MJ are you in the charge of the recording the recording has started all right thanks Stephanie [0:14] uh very good let's uh whoever is calling the rooll please call the [0:20] rooll commissioner agno here commissioner rer here commissioner [0:26] Jackson here commissioner Pierce here chair hland here um we're all here this [0:33] is thank you this is of course the uh work session for the h and it is as I said earlier uh March 13th 2025 and [0:40] about 7:34 in the morning and uh we've got a singular beating topic this morning and continue some conversations [0:48] we've been having around housing and its production and affordability and we've got a slate of [0:55] uh capable staff people with us today to talk about this issue and guide us we're [1:00] going to be guided too I think by what happens at the legislature and uh that's a work in progress and I don't know if [1:07] any of you are watching some of the proposed legislation but um we're watching it carefully for all all of us [1:13] and all the other mlc cities through our lobbyist at mlc so we'll be reporting [1:19] out on that but getting his demographic backgrounding information will be important for that conversation as well so uh manager Neil do you want to turn [1:26] it to Stephanie hackinson start right with our kind of this is a continuation of of a series of work sessions that [1:34] we'd like to talk about housing and make sure make sure we have as staff people [1:40] and we're interacting with state legislators to make make sure we understand what your Collective [1:46] positions are on on housing Stephanie yes so thank you um so [1:52] as you recall uh last month we talked about State um City policies and plans [1:58] that help form and guide staff um in what we bring forward with [2:04] regards to affordable housing and so today it's a continuation and we're T um [2:10] focusing on housing statistics that are currently in place and City demographics [2:15] as they are with most recent surveys um we have a lot of slides so like like [2:21] last work session My Hope Is that we can get through the slides and circle back with um questions and discussion just so [2:29] we can get through them cuz they're all different um and time is [2:36] limited so we have presenters um Marissa is here [2:41] um to take place of Thomas Brooks temporarily um he's out ill today so uh [2:47] we do have a substitution but this is a collaborative effort there are a lot of departments and staff and different [2:52] departments that have come together to put together um last presentation as well as this presentation [3:00] why we are here to remind you is in the 2024 2025 budget work plan under livable [3:06] City we have advanced progress to affordable housing goals including increasing housing options and [3:12] developing a long-term growth strategy so that is one of the reas…
