The council voted to keep the existing public comment rules in place, rejecting proposals that would have altered how residents can interact with city leadership. Some council members had previously raised concerns about decorum and suggested procedural adjustments, but the council ultimately decided the current three-minute format should remain.

During the meeting, the council also received updates on several major parks and recreation projects funded by local sales and use tax revenue. Braar Arena is in the design phase, with the city having hired Tegra as owner's representative and JLG as architect. The project includes a specialized consultant for food and beverage operations analysis. The council also discussed plans for pickleball courts at Braar Park, which may share parking with the nearby Brayar Golf Dome. A parking lot expansion is being explored to serve both facilities and provide trailhead access.

The most ambitious project involves converting Fred Richards Park, a former golf course, into a 43-acre park featuring a food forest, trails, pickleball courts, new buildings, and a remodeled clubhouse. Construction documents are being prepared for this transformation.

The council also celebrated the retirement of Tim Zimmerman, a parks department worker with 41 years of service. Zimmerman spent his career at Arnison Acres Park, where he oversaw major improvements including buckthorn removal, creation of a hybrid lily garden, and documentation of the park's history. The greenhouse at Arnison Acres, built in 1991, was among the facilities where Zimmerman worked.

Finally, the council promoted a free Home Energy Squad program available to Edina residents in April. Provided by Excel Energy and Center Point Energy, the program offers personalized home energy assessments, installation of energy-saving materials, and inspections of heating, cooling, and water systems. The initiative supports the city's climate action plan goals while helping residents reduce energy bills.
