Edina announces packed Fourth of July celebration with parade, race, and fireworks
Mayor Jim Hufflin unveiled Edina's 2025 Independence Day festivities on Tuesday, featuring the second annual Edina Dash race, a parade, and evening entertainment at Rosland Park. The city-wide celebration aims to raise $15,000 for local nonprofits while offering free family activities throughout the day.
Edina is preparing what Mayor Hufflin called "one of America's great little parades" for July 4th, with events starting early and running into the evening. The day kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with the Edina Dash, a 3/4-mile community race with a $20 entry fee per participant. Organizers hope the race will generate $15,000 for Edina Give and Go and the Edina Community Foundation.
The parade begins at 10:00 a.m., starting at Eden Avenue and traveling down West 50th Street to Halifax Avenue. Organized by the Edina Community Foundation and presented by Explore Edina, the one-hour parade will feature veterans, marching bands, floats, horses, and community groups. The parade route ends near the US Bank landmark.
Evening festivities move to Rosland Park, where the aquatic center will operate from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Food trucks arrive at 7:00 p.m., followed by a performance from the John Philips Sousa Memorial Band at 8:30 p.m. The celebration concludes with fireworks at dusk.
Mayor Hufflin emphasized that the city has contingency plans for weather. "The parade and the fireworks will be held rain or shine, but may be delayed or cancelled in the event of strong storms," he said, noting that the region has experienced significant severe weather recently. The announcement reflects the city's commitment to delivering a comprehensive, family-friendly Independence Day celebration while supporting local charitable organizations.
