Edina to host free Juneteenth celebration this weekend
Mayor Jim Huffland announced that Edina will host a free, family-friendly Juneteenth community celebration on June 19th from 3 to 7 PM at Metsold Amphitheater in Centennial Lakes Park.
The celebration will feature live musical performances, food trucks, resource tables, and interactive activities for all ages. Children's author Kayla Gant will also be present at the event. The celebration is being held in conjunction with Edina's Farmers Market, giving residents multiple reasons to visit the park.
Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, commemorates the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom in 1865. The holiday has become a significant cultural celebration across the United States.
The event is free to attend and open to the entire community. Centennial Lakes Park's Metsold Amphitheater provides a central location for the city's celebration, making it accessible to residents throughout the area.
