The Edina Public Schools Board approved a mutual termination agreement Monday allowing Superintendent Dr. Stacy Stanley to leave her position April 18 to become superintendent of St. Paul Public Schools.

The board voted unanimously to approve the agreement during its regular meeting February 3. Vice Chair Erica Allenberg explained the agreement allows Stanley to leave her contract early, as permitted under her current employment terms. Stanley was named St. Paul's superintendent choice in December, pending contract negotiations.

The board also moved forward with elementary literacy curriculum adoption, with Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning Bethany van Ael presenting Benchmark Advance and Benchmark Adelante programs. The curriculum addresses systematic phonics instruction for grades K-5 and includes knowledge-building units across science, social studies and literature. The board will vote on the adoption March 3.

In other business, the board approved a two-year collective bargaining agreement with Service Employees International Union Local 284, representing buildings, grounds and maintenance employees. The agreement includes a 7% wage increase in the first year and 2.8% in the second year, with enhanced health insurance contributions beginning January 2025.

The board also reviewed multiple policy updates, including electronic technologies use, student promotion and retention, and class size guidelines. Chair Amy Gabler announced the interim superintendent job posting will be published Wednesday, with applications due February 21 and interviews scheduled for late February.
