Edina HRA Reviews 11 Proposals for Eden Avenue Property
The Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority reviewed 11 proposals Thursday for the sale of city-owned land at 5146 Eden Avenue, the former public works site.
The HRA moved into closed session to discuss the proposals, as permitted under Minnesota statute. Chair Huffland said the authority will schedule a future special session to continue discussions about the property sale.
Commissioner Carolyn Jackson suggested using proceeds from any eventual sale to fund the city's suspended second mortgage program for affordable housing. "One of the goals we have for this property is to look at affordable housing opportunities and ownership opportunities," Jackson said.
Commissioner Risser raised concerns about infrastructure needs, specifically the lack of HVAC at the Lewis Park building. She noted the facility serves many residents, including those in affordable housing.
The authority adopted its consent agenda and heard no public comments during the May 15 meeting. Executive Director Scott Neil said staff will work to schedule the follow-up special session within the next 60 days.
