New Labyrinth Opens at Arnison Acres Park
A new 30-foot concrete labyrinth has been completed at Arnison Acres Park, donated by the Atlanta Garden Council and its Ketoale Garden Club, Mayor Jim Huffland announced Wednesday.
The labyrinth features a medieval design with charcoal-colored outlines and a pale yellow path that matches the park's fountain. Located at the south end of the formal garden area on West 70th Street, the installation completes the park's design alongside the existing gazebo and fountain.
The labyrinth is surrounded by a semicircle of 10 crab apple trees representing the number of clubs in the garden council when they were planted. The installation includes ADA-accessible trails and connects to the park's tranquility garden.
The Atlanta Garden Council will dedicate the labyrinth, trails and tranquility garden from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24. Former City Council member Mary Brindle and her husband Ralph will perform an alpine horn concert to mark the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The garden council will provide refreshments in the gazebo, weather permitting, or in the terrace room of Arnison House. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the dedication ceremony.
