Highway 100 On-Ramp to Close Until Fall
The northbound Highway 100 on-ramp from 50th Street will close until late fall as part of the Vernon Avenue/Highway 100 Project Phase 3A construction, City Engineer Chad Milner announced during Tuesday's Edina City Council meeting.
The closure will begin soon and continue through construction work scheduled for completion by late November, according to the project timeline. The city plans to reopen the ramp as soon as the work is finished to restore access for drivers.
Drivers will have two detour options during the closure. A local detour will direct traffic down to Benton Avenue using frontage roads. The signed detour route will take drivers to Eden Avenue, where they can enter southbound Highway 100, continue to the Highway 62 interchange, take the eastbound Highway 62 exit, then immediately take the northbound Highway 100 exit to reach Grange Road or continue north.
Milner also addressed safety concerns in the construction area, asking drivers to be more courteous to pedestrians and cyclists. He noted problems with drivers failing to yield to pedestrians at midblock crosswalks and crosswalks around roundabouts.
