And I will call to order the August 10th meeting. August 10th, 2020 sixth meeting of the Golden Valley Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m.. And before we start. Before I read the land acknowledgement statement and move on. And this is maybe a little bit irregular, but I’ll forget to do it if I don’t do it now, I just want to thank the commissioners, uh, for all their diligent work. At the last meeting. That was our first really challenging variance, as we’ve taken on the role of the Board of Zoning and Appeals. And it was a long meeting, and everybody worked really hard to get there. So I can I want to just thank you for all of that. Um, hopefully it’s the last of the crazy ones for a little bit of time. It’s challenging, but you never know with variances. But since we’ve taken on that visa role, um, you know, we do have those added activities. So just again wanted to publicly thank everybody. Get that on the record. And now I will read the land acknowledgement statement. Uh, we acknowledge and honor the Dakota nation on whose ancestral land the city of Golden Valley has built and whose land resources we use. We commit to counteracting the erasure of cultural practices and presence of the Dakota people through education, and by amplifying a wide range of indigenous voices. And the next thing we’ll do is we’ll look at approving the agenda. Um, you will note that in the agenda, we have two variances to work on. And they are listed in the consent agenda, which means that if we want to discuss either one of them further, uh, any commissioner can move to have that item open for discussion and take it out of the consent agenda. Otherwise, those two items, as under the consent agenda, if we approve the consent agenda, those variances are both approved. So, uh, be looking for either anyone who wants to pull one of those items or a motion to approve the consent agenda. A motion to approve the consent agenda. Commissioner Finn Seth has moved to approve the consent agenda. Is there a second? I second. Commissioner Hill has seconded. Uh, so all those in favor of approving the agenda, including those two consent items, signify by saying I, I, I all those opposed the agenda is approved. The two variances are approved via the consent agenda. So we now move on to council liaison staff and commissioner updates. Hello all yours, Miss Kramer. Uh, updates. So next Tuesday, August 18th, City Council will consider the variance appeal for 95 Nevada Avenue. That’s the fence variance application that you guys heard last month. Um, let’s see. Looking ahead to August 24th, we’re hoping to have a work session on a couple items. Uh, reviewing federal the federal housing bill, bipartisan 21st Century Road to Housing Act, just talking about how that might impact your work. We’re also hopefully bringing the fence code update, uh, for work session discussion. If you still have comments for Steven, please send them to him on the code. Otherwise we’ll just talk about it as a group. Uh, there might also be a variance application on that agenda. TBD and other things of note later this summer slash fall, I’m hoping to put together some joint commission work sessions with, uh, diversity, equity and Inclusion and Environmental Commission to talk some code updates that are of interest to both groups. Something else. Sorry, just a quick. Yeah, just another quick update on the fence. I will still be keeping the rest of the timeline basically the same, except for due to the building forward civic campus plan. Coming back to you guys on September 14th, we’re going to move fences to the first meeting in October. Um, so we’ll have some time to kind of digest even more before you guys have to approve the fence code update. Yes. So September 14th, fingers crossed. We will have one plan for the Civic Center campus that you guys can see and potentially make a recommendation on. Um, that would be the whole meeting. We’re not going to put other applications on that night. And I think that’s all the updates I have. We don’t have any other codes in the hopper yet. We did get bumped from the August work session with City Council, so we can’t talk missing middle housing yet. They’re talking budget that night, so I get why they bumped us, but. September work session. We also might be meeting with council members in that month so that we can get more direction and a roadmap forward. It will happen soon. I hope, but yeah. And Monday, August 17th. No. The town hall meeting. Uh, August 17th. Yes. It’s at Brook view. Not here. That’s the mayor’s town hall. She is going to be talking the rebranding project and whatever other odds and ends get brought up. 6 to 8 p.m. and it is outdoors. The show starts at the program starts at 630.
