For  the fifth year, we’re excited to   [0:04] celebrate Minneapolis’ Black-owned  businesses during Black Business Week.   [0:08] I’m Andrea Jenkins, City Council Member for Ward  8. We’re here at George Floyd Square, a place I’m   [0:15] proud to represent, where Black businesses  are thriving, growing, and just getting   [0:21] started. I’m City Council President Elliott  Payne. From Thursday, July 24 to July 31,   [0:28] we’re coming together to connect, learn  and uplift entrepreneurs shaping our   [0:33] city. Supporting Black-owned businesses builds  lasting financial power, not just in the Black   [0:38] community, but across all of Minneapolis. George  Floyd Square is a powerful place to start Black   [0:43] Business Week. It reflects the resilience of our  Black community, with culture and creativity, and   [1:04] it deserves lasting investment. When we support  Black-owned businesses, we’re building a more   [1:11] equitable future for all. That’s why I’m excited  for this week’s events. From business tours and   [1:16] workshops to a resource fair and pop-up market,  there’s something for everyone. I’m honored to   [1:21] help kick off Black Business Week 2025 right  here at The Square.
