[0:07] I am so thrilled that so many of you have sent in questions, [0:11] and I have five really exciting questions that I'm going to answer today. [0:19] How do you support kids who need extra breaks [0:22] or other extra help? [0:24] That is a really important question. [0:27] Everybody needs a little break and a little help sometimes, [0:31] even me. [0:32] The other day I was [0:34] working in my office and just feeling tired, [0:38] so I got up and I took a walk around the beautiful park across the street, [0:43] and that really helped energize me [0:45] and gave me more energy to finish the day. [0:48] So, [0:49] when it comes to helping students, [0:50] it's the same thing. [0:52] Stopping, [0:53] pausing, [0:54] getting to know you, [0:56] seeing what you need, [0:57] and helping you find out ways to get you the help [1:00] that you need to feel better and do your best work. [1:04] Two. [1:06] Do you have a dog, [1:08] cat, [1:08] or other animal? [1:10] I actually have a dog [1:13] and his name is Duke. [1:15] I don't know what kind of dog he is. [1:17] We sent in one of those DNA tests, [1:20] and it came back and it said [1:22] he's a super mutt. [1:24] He is a great dog. [1:28] Three. [1:29] What's your favorite color, [1:32] and will you be my friend? [1:35] I most certainly will be your friend. [1:37] I'm new here and I'm looking for friends, [1:40] so I'm really glad you asked me that. [1:42] And when it comes to my favorite color, [1:44] I kind of have two. [1:46] I really like yellow [1:48] because it's the color of sunflowers and sunshine, [1:52] and I also [1:53] like pink [1:55] because it's [1:56] a little [1:57] bright and joyful. [1:58] Those are my two favorite colors. [2:02] Four. [2:04] What made you choose Sheridan Hills, [2:07] and what's your favorite book? [2:09] Well, [2:10] the first question is really easy to answer. [2:13] Sheridan Hills was an easy choice to come here. [2:17] This is a strong community [2:19] with joyful children and caring adults, [2:23] and I'm new to Minnesota. [2:25] I moved here four years ago [2:26] from California [2:28] and I get a little homesick for my friends [2:30] and family that are still living in California. [2:33] So I needed to come to work every day [2:35] in a community [2:36] that is loving and caring and always helping each other. [2:40] So that's [2:41] an easy pick for Sheridan. [2:43] And when it comes to my favorite book, [2:46] I don't know if I can choose one favorite book, [2:49] but the kind of books I like [2:51] are books that are stories about people's lives. [2:55] I like to read about how people that I think are different from me [3:01] live their life, [3:02] and I always find connections between my life and theirs. [3:07] Five. [3:09] How did you get to be a principal? [3:11] Oh, [3:12] there's a lot of questions here. [3:14] What's your favorite animal? [3:17] Do you like Pokemon? [3:19] Pokemon. [3:21] And what's your favorite food or candy? [3:24] Well [3:25] The first question, [3:26] how I got to be a principal. [3:27] First,I had to be a teacher for a long, [3:29] long time, [3:31] and then I had to go to school [3:33] to learn how to be a principal. [3:35] And the most important thing [3:37] for principals to learn [3:39] is how to take care of [3:41] all the members of a school community. [3:44] My favorite animal, [3:45] it has to go back to dogs. [3:47] I love that little super mutt Duke. [3:49] He's one of my favorite people in my family. [3:52] Well,I guess he's not really a person, [3:55] but to me he's a person. [3:56] So dogs are my favorite animal. [3:59] Pokemon, [4:01] I [4:02] really [4:04] haven't played Pokemon, [4:06] but if anybody wants to come and talk to me and tell me how that game is played, [4:10] I would love to learn. [4:11] I always like [4:12] learning new games. [4:13] Family Game Night is really popular at my house, [4:16] so if you want to teach me a new game, [4:18] I would love to learn it. [4:21] Hm, [4:22] my favorite food or candy. [4:25] When it comes to food, [4:26] one of my favorite snacks are dried fruit and nuts, [4:30] but if I want to give myself a treat and have candy, [4:34] my sister taught me this trick. [4:36] One time when we went camping. [4:39] You know how you get s'mores, [4:41] you make s'mores, [4:42] you get a marshmallow, [4:45] you squish it in between graham crackers and maybe a Hershey's bar, [4:50] but my sister taught me that instead of using a Hershey's bar, [4:53] you could put a Reese's peanut butter cup in there. [4:57] And it is so good. [4:58] It is a mind blower, [5:00] a game changer. [5:02] That is probably one of my very special treats, [5:04] and I won't eat that every day, [5:06] just [5:07] on a special day [5:08] during a bonfire, [5:10] and every time I have that snack, [5:11] I think about my sister. [5:13] Well, [5:14] these were great questions. [5:16] I can't wait to hear [5:17] the other questions that you're going bring in. [5:19] This is so fun.
