[0:00] the last 100 years several efforts have
[0:02] been made to Showcase Lake motanka but
[0:04] no defend plan was really adopted until
[0:07] 2011 when the city set out to create a
[0:09] community embraced vision for the city's
[0:12] most important natural asset during this
[0:15] process the community voice strong
[0:16] support for some kind of lakewalk that
[0:18] would allow people to have a closer
[0:20] relationship with the water and that's
[0:22] when panway on WE Zetta Bay was born but
[0:25] a dream like this doesn't come to life
[0:28] overnight it takes years of dedicated
[0:30] passion commitment vision and teamwork
[0:33] it sounds cliche but it literally and
[0:36] figuratively took a village to get to
[0:39] where we are today like many large scale
[0:42] projects as the mayor said it takes a
[0:43] lot of time effort and the community to
[0:46] make this a reality this is very much
[0:48] true here in wetta I asked Jake beard in
[0:50] a recent conversation why they feel
[0:52] passionate about this the simple
[0:54] response it seemed blindingly obvious to
[0:56] them that the city needed this wette is
[0:58] a city that is blessed in many regards
[1:01] but of utmost blessing is the great
[1:03] people here project has been supported
[1:05] by over 300 individuals families
[1:08] corporations and foundations that
[1:09] collectively have pledged or donated
[1:11] over $3.3 million to this project many
[1:14] people have worked together for a long
[1:16] time to get to this point and today is a
[1:19] day to celebrate this Milestone and our
[1:21] shared commitment to funding the final
[1:23] phases of this community project we've
[1:26] planted over 100 trees 500 shrubs and
[1:29] over 35 perennials we've installed over
[1:32] 5,000 Boards of cabany wood the wood you
[1:34] see on the boardwalk and 74 concrete
[1:36] filled pilings that let the boardwalk
[1:38] exist on the lake if everyone regardless
[1:41] of age or Mobility level could enjoy
[1:42] walking along the shoreline it would be
[1:45] successful and ensuring that all future
[1:47] generations of wians can learn play and
[1:49] experience yetta's greatest natural
[1:51] resource Lake minaka yeah the goal of
[1:54] this project has always been to share
[1:55] lake motanka with all regardless of Ager
[1:59] ability seeing entire families from
[2:03] Toddlers to parents and grandparents
[2:06] Aunts Uncles friends just relishing in
[2:10] this new amenity and Community coming
[2:14] together that really solidified for me
[2:17] and I think the rest of the council how
[2:19] important it was to see this through to
[2:22] completion that to me was a moment that
[2:25] I knew for myself we couldn't turn back
[2:28] is truly meant to be a gift a gift for
[2:31] all of you and also for future
[2:34] generations of wetta
