Saint Paul Public Schools Celebrated for Robust Early Childhood Partnerships
The district's long-standing collaboration with Head Start programs received national recognition, underscoring years of evolving cooperation to benefit young learners.
Saint Paul Public Schools (SPPS) recently garnered national recognition for its exemplary community partnerships in early childhood education, specifically highlighting its collaborative work with Head Start programs. During a recent Board of Education meeting on May 19, the district celebrated receiving the National Head Start Association award, acknowledging a relationship that has significantly matured over the years to better serve the community's youngest students.
Executive Chief of Operations Jackie Turner presented the award, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that defines the partnership. She noted the consistent commitment from both entities to find common ground and achieve shared goals.
I have worked with Doctor Erickson and Head Start for many, many years on trying to collaborate and partner and put programs together. And regardless of who's at the table, what ideal it is, this team always gets to a yes.
Kerry Kearns, Deputy Director of Head Start, expressed honor on behalf of CAPRW and their Head Start program for the joint award. Kearns underscored the unique strength of the relationship between Head Start and SPPS, a dynamic not always seen between such organizations and school districts.
