During Monday's meeting, the council detailed a full schedule of Summerfest activities designed to draw residents and visitors to downtown Oakdale. The week-long celebration centers on Walton Park, which will host food vendors, beverages, and live entertainment throughout the event.

Key activities include the Ted Bearth Grande Parade, which will travel down 15th Street, and a medallion hunt that encourages families to explore the community. The Walton Bandshell will serve as the main stage for live music performances by local bands Free and Easy and GB Leighton. A Summerfest 5K run will take place at the Nature Preserve, offering residents a chance to participate in organized athletics during the festivities.

The council also noted that children's entertainment and a fireworks display are part of the programming, though specific times and additional details were not provided in the meeting summary. Residents seeking comprehensive information about event schedules, vendor locations, and registration details are directed to visit oakdalesummerfest.com.

The council's promotion of Summerfest reflects the city's effort to organize a major community gathering that spans multiple venues and appeals to different age groups and interests. No votes were recorded during the discussion, suggesting the council was primarily focused on publicizing the event rather than making formal decisions about its approval or funding.
