Oakdale Police Department Unveils New Uniform Patch Design

Meeting date: Jul 14, 2025
Published Aug 23, 2025

The Oakdale Police Department this week revealed a redesigned uniform patch following recent changes to Minnesota's state flag and seal.

A committee formed to create the new design incorporated elements representing the community's history and values. The patch features Oakdale's historic oak tree positioned in front of a subdued United States flag, with stars on each side paying tribute to the original Oakdale Police Department patch created in 1968.

The redesign reflects what officials described as a "simple yet classic design to represent our community" in response to the state's recent flag and seal modifications.

Separately, the city announced several upcoming community events. The Oakdale Farmers Market will operate Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot, featuring a weekly vendor basket giveaway.

The Oakdale Fire and Police Departments will host a senior safety seminar Thursday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at City Hall for residents ages 55 and older. A Red Cross blood drive is scheduled Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Discovery Center, with registration available at redcrossblood.org.
