Oakdale Announces Summer Concert Series, Summerfest Schedule
Mayor Zabel announced several upcoming community events during Monday's weekly update, highlighting the start of summer programming and the approach of the city's annual festival.
The city's first summer concert of the season will take place Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Walton Park Band Shell, featuring Salsa Del Soul performing Caribbean dance music. The free concert encourages attendees to bring lawn chairs for the outdoor venue.
City offices will close Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday, with emergency services remaining available and normal operations resuming Friday, June 20. The closure follows the city's recognition of the federal holiday.
Nominations for the annual Oakdale Acorn Award remain open through June 30, recognizing outstanding landscaping in residential, business/commercial, and public categories. Community members can submit nominations through the city's website at oakdalemn.gov.
Oakdale Summerfest is scheduled for June 23-28, featuring activities including a medallion hunt, parade, skateboard contest, Nature Preserve 5K, pony rides, inflatables, food trucks, concerts, and fireworks. The Oakdale Summerfest Community Organization coordinates the annual celebration, with a complete schedule available at oakdalesummerfest.com.
