The Woodbury School Board approved its fiscal year 2026 capital expenditure budget and several policy revisions during its April 29 meeting at the District Education Center.

The board approved a capital budget of just under $2.5 million in operating capital revenue, generated from state aid and property tax levy. Beginning next year, the district will implement a centralized process for school capital requests, with all requests reviewed by the assistant superintendent and cabinet members rather than allocating funds based on enrollment.

Director of Finance Josh Anderson said the process change has been under discussion for several years. "The majority of our major construction projects are concluding, reducing the need for school level capital purchases," Anderson told the board. "Many recent requests have involved technology, which is better addressed through centralized planning."

The board also approved policy revisions affecting harassment and violence definitions, student publications, and federal revenue sources. The changes align district policies with recent Minnesota legislative updates and federal grant guidance requirements.

Additionally, the board approved a $228,400 change order for Northern Glass and Glazing to provide additional storefront security systems at Tartan High School. The work falls within the school's $4.8 million construction contingency budget.

The meeting also featured recognition of student athletes and academic achievers from both North and Tartan High Schools, including state-level competitors in gymnastics, wrestling, and Business Professionals of America competitions. The Office of Early Learning presented data showing the program serves over 1,000 students from birth to kindergarten across multiple programs.
