StoryCentral Park Renovation and Lookout Ridge Upgrade

Woodbury updates parks, budget process, and community programs

The Woodbury City Council discussed several upcoming initiatives at its August meeting, including a major renovation of a popular indoor playground, a public budget review scheduled for September, and community engagement opportunities for residents.

Meeting date: Aug 13, 2025

Central Park's Lookout Ridge indoor playground is getting a significant upgrade after two decades of use. The renovated facility will feature more than 75 unique play elements and two new birthday party rooms, with an expected opening this fall. The project represents a major investment in the city's recreational infrastructure for families.

The City Council is preparing for its 2026 budget review, which will take place at a public workshop on September 10th at the Public Safety Building starting at 4 p.m. The meeting will continue until all department budgets have been evaluated, giving residents an opportunity to see how the city plans to spend taxpayer money.

Woodbury Days, the city's annual community celebration, will run August 22-24 at Ojibway Park. The three-day event will feature carnival rides, games, food, live music, a business fair, bingo, and fireworks. The City of Woodbury will operate a booth at the business fair where attendees can meet city officials, including newly hired City Administrator Jeff Dahl.

The city is also seeking volunteers for its advisory commissions, which provide input on local issues. Residents interested in serving on these volunteer-based groups can apply online, with appointments beginning in January. Additionally, Woodbury is promoting a new curbside recycling program for mattresses and box springs through Second Chance Recycling. Residents can schedule pickups online and will receive email instructions for participating in the program.
