Woodbury voters elected Kim Wilson and Donna Stafford to fill two positions on the City Council in the recent election. Wilson, who was reelected to a second term, received 14,592 votes. Stafford, newly elected with 9,601 votes, is a retired professional who previously worked in former Minnesota Governor Rudy Perpich's office and later in health care. Both will begin four-year terms in January.

In a separate vote, Woodbury residents approved a 0.5% local sales tax specifically designated to fund the development and construction of a planned Public Safety campus project within the city. This new revenue source will help the city move forward with the facility.

Looking ahead, the City Council will review the proposed 2025 budget at a meeting on December 11th at 7:30 p.m. The budget proposes a 5.7% increase in city taxes for the median-value home—an increase of $73 annually. The council will examine both the tax impacts and the programs and services the budget supports. Despite the proposed tax increase, Woodbury maintains a Triple-A bond rating from Standard and Poor's, the highest available rating, which reflects sound financial management and allows the city to borrow money at favorable rates.

Residents should also note that Woodbury's winter parking restrictions are now in effect through April 1st. City ordinance prohibits on-street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., or anytime two or more inches of snow has accumulated. Additionally, vehicles parked in driveways cannot extend into the street or obstruct trails and sidewalks, as these restrictions help facilitate snow plowing operations.
