The Woodbury City Council approved a $6.9 million roadway rehabilitation project for the Fox Run area during its March 12 meeting, along with permits for two new businesses including an indoor recreation facility.

The 2025 roadway rehabilitation project will reconstruct streets in the Fox Run neighborhood bounded by Hudson Road, Woodbury Drive, Pope's Lake and St. John's Drive. Property owners will pay 22% of project costs through special assessments, with single-family homeowners assessed a minimum amount. McNamer Contracting won the construction contract with a bid of $6.93 million, lower than the original $8.1 million estimate.

The project includes controversial traffic calming measures, including a proposed traffic circle at Lake Ridge Drive and Kilbirnie Road. Some residents objected to the circle's placement just 300 feet from a stop sign and raised concerns about pedestrian safety. Engineering Project Coordinator Drew Boxford said the circle would slow vehicle speeds and serve as a demonstration project for future traffic calming efforts.

The council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for Slick City, an indoor recreation facility featuring slides and air trampolines. Applicants Mike and Annie Kelly plan to occupy 50,000 square feet at 587 Settlers Ridge Parkway, with construction targeted for completion by year-end. The facility will operate primarily Friday evenings through Sunday afternoons.

Council members also approved permits for Red Rock Elementary's farmers market to continue operating Sundays from May through October, and granted a liquor license to Legendary Spice restaurant at 8300 Tamarac Village. Community Development Director Janelle Schmid presented the 2024 annual report showing $250 million in taxable market value at City Place, up from $12.5 million in 2014 when the redevelopment began.
