The Woodbury Planning Commission voted Monday to recommend approval of a conditional use permit for an indoor pickle ball facility at 390 Commerce Drive, while also providing feedback on a proposed residential development.

SNF Corporation plans to convert 22,000 square feet of a 65,000-square-foot building into eight indoor pickle ball courts. The facility would operate from 6 a.m. to midnight and offer both membership and pay-to-play options.

The commission added a condition requiring a lighting and security plan review for the building exterior and parking area. The project will go before the City Council for a public hearing on July 16.

"The pickle ball club will have its own branding," said the SNF Corporation representative, who explained the remaining building space would be used for office and warehouse operations, with some office space potentially available for lease.

In other business, commissioners reviewed a concept plan for a nine-lot residential subdivision at 4255 Woodlane Drive. The proposal would require changing the comprehensive plan designation from rural estate to urban estate zoning. Commissioners provided feedback on lot configurations and storm water management for future consideration.
