Bloomington Seeks Public Input on Wellness Center Design
The City of Bloomington unveiled draft designs for its new Community Health and Wellness Center and is seeking public feedback through March 1. An in-person event held Saturday, February 8, allowed residents to review schematic design plans with city staff and architects.
The facility will serve as one of Bloomington's first community-owned indoor spaces open to residents of all ages, abilities and income levels. According to city officials, the center will offer programming, exercise facilities, cultural events and social gathering spaces. The schematic design phase represents the halfway point in the planning process, with building size and site placement determined while details continue development.
Residents who could not attend the February 8 event can review the draft designs and submit comments through the Let's Talk Bloomington online platform. The feedback period remains open until March 1.
The city also launched an online form for non-emergency public safety requests, including noise complaints, parking issues and road hazards. The system directs requests to Bloomington Dispatch while keeping emergency lines clear. Requests can be submitted in any language and will be translated to English, with dispatchers following up via text for additional details or status updates.
Separately, the city is accepting applications through March 14 for an artist to design a mural at Bloomington Ice Garden. The mural will be installed in the facility's vestibule and celebrate the rink's history and community importance.
