Osseo Schools Proposes Four Boundary Change Scenarios
Osseo Area Schools presented four proposed attendance boundary scenarios that would affect between 1,800 and 3,700 elementary and middle school students starting in fall 2026, district officials announced at a community information meeting Thursday.
Superintendent Dr. K emphasized that no final decisions have been made and that extensive community input will guide the process. The changes are needed due to enrollment imbalances and significant growth in the northwest portions of the district, particularly in Maple Grove. A new elementary school will open in northwest Maple Grove in fall 2026 as part of the district's Building a Better Future referendum.
The four scenarios range from moving 1,800 students in the most conservative option to 3,700 students in the most comprehensive plan. All scenarios focus on elementary and middle schools only, with high school boundaries remaining unchanged. Executive Director of Finance and Operations John Morad explained that the proposals aim to eliminate non-contiguous geographic areas, improve building efficiency, and create better feeder patterns between elementary and middle schools.
Crest View Elementary students will be the only exception to the 2026 timeline, moving to new school assignments in fall 2025 when their building is repurposed for pre-K programs and community services. The district last changed attendance boundaries 15 years ago.
The district will review community feedback through March and share revised scenarios in April and May before announcing final boundaries by the end of the school year. from an elementary standpoint it would last for the foreseeable future but from a middle school standpoint we're really just kicking the can 3 years or so
